The Marshmallow Sofa was designed in 1945, though who designed the original piece is a subject of controversy. Regardless of whether it was created by Irving Harper or George Nelson, this inspirational item is one of the more unique sofas that came out of the mid-century modern period.

This sofa is the earliest manifestation of Pop Art in furniture design. With its Unmistakable George Nelson Atomic style, it is routinely featured in pop art publications. Original production ran 4 short years with only 186 pieces created. Today the design has reached iconic status and it is seen in residential and commercial settings alike.
